Beasts, or Equals?

Decades ago, i made the mistake of knocking on the front door when the Melbourne Cup was on, and I THINK i've now been forgiven! ;-)

This horse reminded me of the rare but special occasions of watching a niece complete, with the braided tail and all. Cos i bet on this horse and it lost, i didn't place another bet all day! (oaks day, 2004)

If there is a way to get horses to run without trickery or whipping, even jockey's, yeehah!

In Lonhro's 'last' race, 17.apr.04, it was all OK 'till i saw this horse round the bend! Its strapper i recognised from a Grand Armee win in '03, and my heart nearly was in my mouth.

I know i could never be a jockey but i do fantasise about being a cleark, of course! These horses get to know you a bit better, cos they're always there.

Redevelopment has meant most of the local stables have gone... sigh

The paceway still exists however, next to the rotting-away tramsheds. I began to take an interest in it on walks with my father; from this vantage point, ontop of a cliff-face looking down, with a padlocked wire fence and disused road-ramp, which was one of the main entrances in the trotting club's heyday.
